The Phoenix Symphony’s 2016-2017 Season continues with a unique and memorable afternoon. Tito Munoz will lead the Symphony in Franz Schubert’s final Symphony No. 9. Schubert’s “Great Symphony” is hailed for its majesty, difficult orchestration and grand scale. As part of PSO’s continuing effort to introduce Prescott audiences to young composers, Maestro Munoz will also present works by Earl Maneein and Christopher Cerrone. The world premiere of Maneein’s Violin Concerto will be performed by J.S. Bach International Violin Competition Gold Medalist Rachel Barton Pine, on her 1742 Guarneri violin. Maestro Munoz will open the program with Cerrone’s Invisible Overture, a lush and ominous musical painting, depicting the decaying empire of Kublai Khan.
Tickets are only available through the Yavapai Symphony Association at (928) 776-4255.
